Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. AI also applies to any machine that performs commands associated with a human mind such as learning and problem-solving.

At this LeanTribe themed - "AI in business" - we will talk about AI within the IT-business, which is a concept that determines the future. AI has not only transformed traditional methods of computing, but it has also gone into many industries, and significantly transformed them. As the world becomes more digitized and with it, all industries become much smarter. IT companies now have to keep up pace with exploding process complexity and accelerating innovations.

The ideal purpose of artificial intelligence is to rationalize and take actions that have the best chance of achieving a specific goal. Data mining is a process used by companies to turn raw data into useful information. By using software to look for patterns in large batches of data, businesses can learn more about their customers to develop more effective marketing strategies, increase sales and decrease costs.

Do you want to share and discuss digital subjects with professionals in the IT world? Welcome to our online LeanTribe about AI in business! An exciting event where we share knowledge and learn about artificial intelligence.

What is Explainable Artificial Intelligence?

The effectiveness of AI algorithms has led to their success and the vast possibility of applications. However, their usage limitation is the machine’s current inability to explain their decisions and actions to human users. Explainable AI is an emerging field that aims to provide methods and processes that allow human users to comprehend and trust their outcome.

Senka Krivic

Senka Krivić is a Research Associate at King’s College London. She received bachelor's and master's degrees in Control and Electronics at the University of Sarajevo and PhD degree in Computer Science at the University of Innsbruck.

Senka's research covers topics at the intersection of robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, planning and explainable AI with the main focus on enabling a robust operation of autonomous systems in real-world environments under uncertainty and in interaction with humans. She has several publications in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences, such as Autonomous Robots, JAIR, IJCAI, IROS, CASE, ESANN, etc.

AI-model helps predict performance before a new product launch within the FMCG-industry

80-90% of all new product launches fail within the fast-moving consumer goods industry in Sweden today. That means that 1-2 years after a launch most of the products have boomeranged off the shelf. A proof of concept with Coop showed that our AI-model could predict which products would succeed with an 85% accuracy rate. It is quite exciting that an AI-model could help revolutionize the product launch process in its whole.

Jacob Kihlbaum

Jacob is an entrepreneur with expertise within economic statistics and consumer behavior, who was previously recruited by Sony Music where he worked with predictions on which songs would hit, amongst other projects. He also created an app that won a price for the world’s best music app. 2,5 years ago he founded Binary Brains that predicts future sales within the commerce industry, aiming to help companies become more profitable and sustainable.

What is Deep Learning?

A lot of the hype around AI in recent years has come from the area of Deep Learning. I have been working with deep learning since 2017, and it has been a pleasure to be working in a field where things are moving so fast and things that previously felt impossible are suddenly within reach. I will talk about what deep learning is and why it is so hyped.

Kerstin Johnsson

Kerstin has been working with machine learning since 2011, in academia and in industry. She earned her PhD in applied mathematics in 2016 and has since then been working with deep learning for analysis of 3D medical images.
